Measuring The Likelihood of Your Business Surviving

Mission

The mission of a business is merely the reason(s) that compelled its organization. The mission of a business must be clear enough to be articulated in one line. The clearer and realistic the mission declaration, the better off everyone: stakeholders and customers alike. The mission statement must not be broad:
Example: “To be the number one data management firm in the world” is an unrealistic statement, thus, carries a sense of neglect. However, a mission statement expressed in the following terms: “To provide our customers with excellent data management services” exhibits a sense of seriousness, and is easier to measure in terms of success and failure.
The mission of a business may change overtime. It may also evolve to encompass others. When this occurs, the recommendation is to break down the mission into partitions, and assign different business sub-processes to each one.
