8500 series cover Information Assurance matters within the Department of
Defense. The DITSCAP methodology aims to standardize the level of effort
exercised in Information Assurance across Department of Defense and other
affiliated agencies. The SSAA document, which is the fine print of DITSCAP
implementaion serves as a guide for insuring compliance with Information
Assurance governing authorities. It is, however, important to always refer
to the SSAA when adding, removing, or altering the current configuration
of the systems, and avoid filing it away, as it is a living document.
